News Item 10 (3 October 2014)

North Dakota Players,

The 2014-2015 season will get under way starting with the Minot Open IRT Tier 4 tournament on 31 October.  On the NDRA website, you will see hyperlinks to the US Open (8-12 Oct), the Minot Open (31 Oct-2 Nov), and the Choice Classic (14-16 Nov).  Click on the applicable JPEG to take you to the tournament main page.  Also, when checking out the NDRA tournament schedule, notice that FIVE of the tournaments are underlined.  These tournaments are part of the NEW Tournament Series.  Your NDRA board members worked hard to come up with a way to increase tournament participation especially to get players to travel for a tournament or two.  So, we came up with the tournament series.  I think this is a good start to increasing tournament play, and we can only get better as time goes on.  If you have any thoughts to add for future consideration on increasing tournament play, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll pass it on to the NDRA board members.  Contact me for questions, and as always, "See you on the Courts".

North Dakota players,

Congrats to those players who went to Minneapolis to participate in the US Open.  Several individuals were successful in their applicable divisions.  Tom Janke from Fargo was a huge winner, and Brian Knowles and Kyle Beck from Minot placed second in their doubles division.  Also, there are several tournaments coming up for those geared up for further tournament play.  Grand Forks is having their Burger King Open from 8-10 November, Minot is having their IRT Tier 4 Pro/Am 22-24 November, and finally, Grand Forks is also having their Happy Joe's Open tournament 6-8 December.  Currently, the Burger King Open is listed in R2Sports as well as there is a hyperlink on the NDRA website.  I'll have the Minot IRT available for registration this week.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Congrats again to those who participated in the US Open.  It is an awesome event to not only see, but also participate in.

News Item 7 (12 April 2013)

North Dakota players,

The 2012-2013 ND season came to a close with the 2013 NDRA Racquetball Championships which was held at the Choice Health & Fitness club at Grand Forks. What a tournament! The matches were competitive and the hospitality was outstanding. If you didnt make the tournament, not only did you miss out competing to see who was the best in ND, but you also missed an opportunity to check out the huge facility. As of right now, the next NDRA/USAR sanctioned tournament will be the Mouse River Indoor/Outdoor Classic held at Minot in August. The date has yet to be determined.Additionally, the 2013-2014 schedule should be ready for review later this summer as well. There are also plans to have a Team match between Minot and Grand Forks.Details are being worked out, however, the initial plan is to have the matchup similar to Collegiate with singles and doubles teams. The players would be ranked from top to bottom, not Open, A, etc.It would be possibly a one day event with head to head matchups. If it works out, then possibly other cities in ND (Fargo, Bismarck, Dickinson) could give it a try.Anyway, more good things on the horizon for ND racquetball.Talk to you soon!

News Item 2 (24 August 2011)

North Dakota players,

The 2011-2012 season schedule is now listed under the tournament schedule link on the left hand side on the NDRA website. Also, I added some other tournaments (either non-sanctioned or in Minnesota and Canada).Lastly, we are trying a new type of tournament in October.Basically, you will be entering a skill division (either Open, A/B, or B/C), your team will have one player in each of the three divisions. You will accumulate points depending how you do in your matches. At the end, we will give out a Team trophy that will be used in subsequent years. The name of the tournament is in memory of a long time great racquetball player named Donn Skadeland who died in a tragic plane crash. We are planning on giving much of the proceeds to Williston State College in Donn Skadelands name.Ill shoot out an e-mail when the tournament is posted on R2Sports.com and our NDRA website.
